The Flight
Early one morning as I sat on the porch taking my daily quiet time, I had a revelation that changes were coming in my life. I looked up and saw a plane. Immediately, I picked up a pad and began to write. What came out was this prayer:
“You are my Lord, my Father, and best friend. I trust you. As I look up and see a plane streaking through the beautiful, peaceful, calm blue sky, I am ready to go where you take me. Excitement fills me.
“I wonder if my journey will be out and fast, like a plane traveling across the sky. Or will it be up, like a plane in take off? Where will you take me?
“Where ever it is, I know it will be an unknown and unfamiliar place. But I will go, Lord, where ever you take me. I will trust you because you are my Shepherd. No matter where it is – desolate, dry or rich – you are my Shepherd and I shall not want.
“Where ever it is, you will lie me down in green pastures and lead me beside the still waters. You shall restore my soul. You shall make a place for me in the presence of my enemies. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell (peacefully, joyfully) in the house of the Lord forever.”
No matter where you are in life – no matter the daily grind, expectations or busy schedule – take moments of quiet and solace. Take time for reflection on your journey. May your journey take you to a place of green pastures and still waters. May you find perfect peace.
God bless you!
